Q: Why do I get Java Script errors?

A: This site, as well as our home page, is best viewed using Internet Explorer 4 or higher, or Netscape 4 or higher (newest versions of these applications are best). Most features on our site will work with older versions of these applications, but versions 5 or higher are preferred.

Q: How up-to-date is the information in the databases?

A: The information that you see is the most up-to-date information that the library has. Occasional delays in data entry may occur.

Q: How do I print a report?

A: To print a report, click on your browser's PRINT button.

Q: Is it possible to print out the entire Saskatoon Directory of Community Information database?

A: Yes it is, but you will need plenty of paper and lots of ink! Also the information that you print out could be out-of-date shortly - it may be better to bookmark the site in your browser and perform the search again to always get the most up-to-date information.

If you wish to print out the entire directory these are the steps to follow:

1. In the "Name of organization / club / agency" field type an asterisk, "*". Press the Enter Key or the click on the Submit Query button. This search will display ALL the information in that field.
2. Organizations are displayed alphabetically by name with 20 complete records at a time. Click on your browser's PRINT button.
3. Click on the Next 20 Records button, and then on the PRINT button.
4. Continue with step 3 until you reach the end of the listings.

Q: How may I obtain a copy of an article / obituary that I have found listed in the Saskatoon Newspaper Index / Saskatoon Obituary Index?

A: The Saskatoon Public Library has copies of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix on microfilm. If you live in or plan to visit Saskatoon, you may come to the Frances Morrison Library and make the copies you need yourself (8 1/2 x 11 $0.25 per copy; ledger size $0.50 per copy).

The current 20 years of microfilm are held in the Information Services Department; all other microfilms are held in the Local History Room. (Please check with Local History regarding their hours as they differ from the rest of the library.)

If you do not live in Saskatoon, we will provide you with a copy of the articles or obituaries you need. There may be a charge for this service, payable in advance. If you prefer, you may also borrow microfilm through the Inter-Library Loan service of your local library. Please note: current 10 years of microfilm are not available for inter-library loan.

If you choose to have the Saskatoon Public Library make copies for you, please e-mail your request to the appropriate department, along with a printout of the complete citation(s) from the Saskatoon Newspaper Index or the Saskatoon Obituary Index. You will be advised as to specific charges.
