Skewis panorama segments.

This series consists of segments of PH-88-634, a panoramic view taken from top of Ross Building in Saskatoon's downtown using a cirkut panoramic camera. The images have been indexed in order, from left to right, and in the order the sections would appear in the panorama:

PH-88-634-1: Looking south over Third Avenue from near the intersection with 21st Street, showing the Flanagan Hotel with cupola, Glengarry Block under construction and the Morton Block down the street. The F.R. MacMillan Department Store is across the street what (later known as the Avenue Building) and a portion of the old Municipal Office Building in the foreground.

PH-88-634-2: Focus is on 21st Street East between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Buildings include Bank of Commerce, Chubb Block, Drinkle No.1, Canada Building. In foreground, rooftops of buildings between 21st and 22nd are visible, including large flat structure, the Real Estate Arcade (later replaced by Birks).

PH-88-634-3: Foreground appears to be back alley between 3rd and 2nd Avenues, the latter visible beyond. In middle distance, CNR railyards. Buildings visible include Kempthorne Block and backs of two substantial buildings: one 3-storey and one 2-storey.

PH-88-634-4: Showing rooftops of buildings lining south side of 22nd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Buildings visible include Bank of Montreal, corner of Phoenix Building, Central Chambers. Railyards in middle distance, Riversdale and Caswell Hill beyond.

PH-88-634-5: Focusing on north side of 22nd Street between 3rd and 2nd. Hazen Twiss under construction at the northwest corner. Other buildings include: Royal Block, Thompson Chambers, The A. MacDonald Co. (wholesale merchants), Rat Portage Lumber Co., fourth J.F. Cairns Store, King George Hotel. Caswell Hill area visible beyond.

PH-88-634-6: Highlighted is the Standard Trusts Building. Construction debris in rear of building. Also visible: City Hall, Third Avenue Church and Hazen Twiss under construction. 3rd Avenue and 23rd Street also visible. Garage occupies spot near northwest corner of 23rd and 3rd.

PH-88-634-7: view focuses on north side of 22nd Street East near corner of 4th Avenue North. Buildings consist mostly of houses, although City Hall (old King Edward School) and fire hall on 23rd can be seen. White building where post office later located on 4th, may have housed several small businesses. Very little visible on Nutana side. New King Edward School can be seen in the middle distance.

PH-88-634-8: Intersection of 4th Avenue and 22nd Street. Buildings visible are mostly houses but Ayres Apartments dominates the scene. Spire of St. John's Cathedral (under construction) punctuates horizon. Knox Church towers over surroundings on Spadina Crescent. Tiny buildings dot University of Saskatchewan campus; east riverbank bare; Sutherland glimpsed on horizon. Four identical houses on 23rd at 4th have conical cupolas.

Continental Oil.

Oblique view of Continental Oil, 158 - 3rd Avenue South. This was an old fire hall in use before Saskatoon became a city - without the tiower; in the left corner is the white frame building used previously as municipal offices (174-178). Gentleman standing near what is probably a gas pump. Dark sign on left side of building reads "Canadian Service Co. Vulcanizing Tires repaired while you wait. Next door." This was in the same building at 160-3rd Avenue South.
