The Blake Map 1883.

The 1883 survey of the original townsite of the city of Saskatoon in the Temperance Colony, now the subdivision of Nutana. It was surveyed by Dominion Land Surveyor Frank L. Blake for the John Lake of the Temperance Colonization Society, and is sometimes called "The 1883 Blake Map", or "The John Lake Plan", or "The Temperance Colony May"

This site would probably be in area now traversed by Taylor Street East between Wildwood & Lakeview & east of Acadia. (See SAB map)

Temperance Colonization Society agreement for sale with Newton Joseph Anderson.

Document is an agreement for sale between Newton Joseph Anderson and the Temperance Colonization Society for the purchase of 157 acres, NW17, 35, 4, W3, for a price of $549.50. Payment in seven yearly instalments of $78.50 each plus interest. The original document was folded in half, then in thirds, and was.21 x 9 cm when folded (pamphlet size).

John N. Lake, wife and child.

John N. Lake and his wife, with their great-nephew Victor Dyer, at their summer cottage at Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1908. He was land commissioner of the Temperance Colonization Society and chose the site of Saskatoon in August 1882 as the administrative centre of the society, and also gave the city its name. He died in 1925.
