E.F.T. Brokovski.

Studio portrait mounted in folder of Edwin Frederick Thomas Brokovski. Photograph is autographed by E.F.T. Brokovski "with compliments of an old pioneer of 1871". Brokovski came to Battleford in 1887 when appointed Dominion Lands agent. He died in his eightieth year at Battleford in 1916.

The MacFarlane brothers' ranch.

The MacFarlane brothers' ranch. James McDougal MacFarlane and Thomas Fleming MacFarlane were the first full-time farmers in the Battleford district settling there as early as 1876. The brothers were hardworking stockmen, and broke only what land was necessary for their ranching enterprise.

Battleford on the flats south of Battle River.

Image depicts Battleford on the flats south of battle River prior to its removal in 1886 to high ground across the Battle. The two small buildings to the left on the low ground belonged to the telegraph office, the long peaked-roof structure to the right was Alexander Macdonald's store, and the square cottage-shaped building was the Saskatchewan Herald Office. P.G. Laurie's home can be seen to the right of the trail winding up the hill, and the government buildings along the horizon. At the far left is Government House, left of centre is Judge Charles Rouleau's residence, right of centre is Registrar William Scott's home, and far right is Indian Agent J.M. Rae's home.

Portrait of Dr. J.W. MacNeill.

Portrait of Dr. J.W. MacNeill. Dr. MacNeill was the first superintendent of the newly constructed (1913) Saskatchewan Hospital. Dr. MacNeill came west to Saskatchewan in 1906 and located at Hanley. He practiced there until 1912. While a resident of Hanley he was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1908 and served until 1912.

The appearance of trestle on the left suggests work was continuing on approach to bridge. The Saskatchewan Hospital, North Battleford can be seen in the background indicating this view was taken from North Battleford side of river.
